Documents you upload can be set to different visibility levels, and we honor those settings at the system level:

5. How We Share Information

We share information only as follows:

Service providers (sub-processors) who process data on our behalf:

  • Resend — transactional and invitation email delivery
  • Vercel — application hosting
  • Google — if you choose to sign in with Google

Each of these providers has its own privacy practices governing the data they process for us.

Other users, according to the visibility and privacy settings you choose (e.g., a published Advocate profile is visible to marketplace visitors; a Private document is not).

Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the platform.

We do not share your information with advertisers, and we do not run third-party advertising on this platform.

6. Cookies

We use a limited set of cookies:

  • Authentication cookies, to keep you signed in securely
  • Referral tracking cookie, set on first visit via a referral link, to attribute a future signup to the referring user's account. This cookie does not overwrite an existing referral attribution and is not used for advertising.

We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as your account is active, and afterward as needed to:

  • Comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations
  • Maintain financial and payment records (including completed Engagements, payments, and referral commission history)
  • Resolve disputes and enforce our agreements

Deactivating your account does not immediately delete historical transaction, payment, or engagement records that we're required to retain.

8. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information (via your account Settings)

  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@mylifeadvocates.com. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures, including encrypted connections, role-based access controls, and database-level access policies that restrict who can see what data, based on your relationship to a given Advocacy Page (owner, invited participant, team member, or the general public, depending on your settings).

No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to the platform.

10. Children's Privacy

This platform is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
